language:a body of words and the systems for their use common to a people who are of the same community or nation, the same geographical area, or the same cultural tradition.
How you use it: People use language in all different types of ways. Examples of language can be formal, slang, text etc….
Slang is known as the use of highly informal words and expressions that are not considered standard in the persons language.
Text has been a big change to the world of language… words like brb -be right back, lol- laugh out loud, omg- oh my god & g2g- got to go, are now commonly used in the way people communicate, especially over technology.

T.V shows are a way in which different type of langauge use can be shown.
For example.. take the show.. summer heights high..
in this you have the character of Mr. G, who uses everyday langauage which is more formal than the langauge which is used by the students.
The you have Ja’mie and Jonah, who use langauge which is pretty much in between the formal and slang types.

pages read: around 17 ish…
impressions of the novel: from what ive read so far it seems like its going to be a fairly sad novel; you get this impression when you read that Greit has to go and live with Vermeer to earn money so her actual family can afford food.
What do you think of Greit: she seems to be caring; since she is leaving her family to go and work and she is good with colours, which you see when she organises the vegetables for the soup.
Is she the kind of character you imagined the girl in vermeers painting to be: the girl in the painting looks like she is sad/ hiding something.. and when you start reading the novel you read about her leaving her family… and you can make that connection between the painting and the character in the novel.

third blog….

ok well first off im just going to write about last weekend…
friday night i got left at home since my parents got free tickets to the footy (and i wasnt invited to go), so i just spent most of the night talking to friends and tried to have an early night… which didnt really work….
Saturday i had a sleep in since ive needed to have one for the last three weeks, but we always seem to plan something on the weekend which involves getting somewhere early, so i’d been missing out on the sleep…
then i went shopping, got a new dress and went to a friends place to watch the footy…
thought that we actually had a really good chance when fraser got a goal in the first 30 seconds.. … but with like 3 minutes left in the last quarter with the other team up by 3 goals you tend to get the feeling that you might not get the result that you had hoped for…

right now: all i can think about is planning wednesday night and work out what i am actually going to do on the weekend…
i hate not knowing what im going to do… i like having things pretty much planned…

waiting for comments from hutch!!
